Scenes from Europe

Paintings that show the texture in old buildings are featured in this gallery. Many of the ideas come from my travels to Europe, particularly Italy where the richness of the sun on old buildings stimulates me to paint.

Young Love

Young Love

60cm x 92cm. Oil on canvas. Unframed.
This painting is a wedding present to a great young couple I know. I have tried to incorporate their European backgrounds and love of the sea into the composition. The red and white lighthouse is a symbol of guidance.

An Irishman and his Bicycle

English Landscape- Malmesbury, Wiltshire

English Landscape- Malmesbury, Wiltshire

Oil on canvas. 65cm x 96cm. Framed. This painting is a reflection on my feelings about the beauty of the English countryside, this one around Malmesbury in Wiltshire. it is not a direct reproduction but rather my interpretation of a scene I saw during my travels. I experimented with trying to create a landscape that contained the patterns in nature, similar to what I tried to do in "Lavender Fields the Storm". I'm interested in the patterns in nature and would like to paint more along this line when I find the time.
